“I’m gonna do Last Days of Disco. I feel like we don’t talk about this movie enough, especially as it relates to a nightlife movie, which is so hard to pull off. I’ve had fantasies about, like, doing a nightlife film in any capacity, and they’re just hard to make. They’re hard to write. They’re hard to make feel authentic. You can’t capture the feeling of going out to the club. Kate Beckinsale’s really good, so mean in this to a sweet, demure Chloë Sevigny, which I don’t think she gets to play that much, but it is nice to see Chloë Sevigny be shy. Can you imagine? I remember watching this movie for the first time and thinking, “All the guys look the same. I can’t keep track of the men.” And I realized that’s the point. They’re all yuppies. Yeah, there should be like a gay version of this for sure, of just, like, bored gay guys in tech who… whose only personality is to, like, do G and go to the club. But this is really good. Whit Stillman, you legend. Come back, come back.”
