“First movie that I ever watched with my parents, I think one of the first things that gave me a taste in film, it's Local Hero. Oh my God, I haven't seen the artwork for it yet. I didn't know this was in here, this was a real surprise.”

“Oh, Quadrophenia by Franc Roddam. Franc Roddam directed a film called War Party, which shot on my reservation when I was two years old. My dad was in the rigging department of it, and that was kind of like, I think, my dad working on a film being one of my earliest, earliest, earliest childhood memories. And then just a story that's shared. I mean, independent films shooting on reservations, it becomes part of the local culture, everybody talks about it. So Franc Roddam is like a pretty important director in my life, so this one's for my dad and for me.”

“After Life. I got to jury with Kore-eda at Cannes this year, and he very quickly became one of my favorite people in the world. Watched Monster, immediately one of my favorite films. So I'm creating my Kore-eda collection with this. Love you, Kore-eda.”

“Speaking of directors I've worked with, I know Kelly's up here a couple of times, and I am so happy I got to see this one, Old Joy. So the same year that Certain Women premiered at Sundance, Old Joy's remaster also screened and I got to see it. That's the only time I've seen it, and I've wanted to watch it over and over and over since then, so it's definitely going in.”

I remember as a Native woman watching this film and then seeing this face come across the screen, totally un-, like, I just wasn't ready to see like a Native person in a movie just living their life. I love Kelly Reichardt so much. And in fact, when we made our film together, our first short film Little Chief together, Lily's in a Carhartt driving an old truck around, and I remember Lily sending Kelly a picture of herself in my stepdad's truck, and I was like, whoa, I'm like that close to Kelly Reichardt. A photo of my stepdad's truck is in her phone right now. From one Carhartt and pickup to the next. Yeah.”

“And I found Down by Law. I love this movie. This is Jim Jarmusch? Yep. I haven't seen this one, but I, anything Tom Waits does, I'm going to watch. It's so good, and John Lurie's in this. Yes. This one too, here, right here. Great. One for you, one for you and one for me. Aw, our little besties Down by Law Blu-rays.”

I didn't have the ability to like thoroughly look, and so I saw this and it just like immediately was like, this is a Lily movie, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
