“Worst Person in the World. Joachim Trier, who I discovered relatively early on, before he made this movie. I think the first one that I saw was Reprise, which is about a group of teenage, high-school-age friends as they’re getting older, what’s happening to them. He made another movie, Oslo, August 31st, that I saw in theaters, and ever since those two I was waiting for him to make new films, and whenever there was even, you know, looking online, “what’s he gonna be–?” Hearing the first news he’s working on this, I remember telling my friends, “This is gonna be… I’m telling you this movie’s gonna be incredible.” The rest is history. And I was lucky enough to get to meet Joachim for Track Star. And he is not only the coolest guy, not only was he a professional skateboarder and world-champion skateboarder of Norway, he’s also just the nicest, sweetest guy ever, coolest guy. Incredible filmmaker. Cuts through, hits you in the heart. He’s the best. All of his movies are amazing. Joachim, love you.”
